There are 13 primary missions in cantha
There are 25 primary missions in Tyria,
There are many towns/outposts/explorable areas. Any one of those can have people in them, They wont all be in the same area as you all the time. So where are they? Probably out killing eachother or a monster. Maybe capping skills or farming. Maybe doing a chest run.

Having said that, I understand what you are saying about the armor/weapons/progress. I am level 20, I have 200 points. Now what. If I pay 15K for a helmet or scar pattern it should be better than the 1.5k helmet or scar pattern. Doesn't that seem logical? However, that would unbalance the pvp side of things. So there is no real solution, at least none that i can think of.

You know I had 5 wins in a row on the Kurzick side of Aspenwood...

Overall I say they only time I been on losing teams was when there was 2 leechers. The Luxons do have the advantage, but its also their weakness.

But I love Fort Aspenwood cause its challenging for the Kurzicks, if it was easy I'd get bored with it.

Its not impossible, its rather simple. And I'm a casual player.

I'm pretty sure a huge majority of players don't read forums, so you can't speak for "RPG players" even if you know what goes on in forums...

1. Yes Dreamhunk represents rpg players!
2. And he's mostly right
3. There are NOT 2 million copies sold; its copies + merchandising stuff!
4. Indeed, many players leave in a few months, you will never see them all online!
5. No need to tell Arenanet, they know but they can affort it to follow their own philosophy in online gaming.
6. I don't doubt 3 million copies will be sold next year.
7. I'm still waiting for a good reason to buy a new expansion.
8. Even in a 100% skillbased game like MtG players LOVE it when they can kill their opponent in the 2nd turn by returning a zillion dmg creature from their graveyard...
9... And they would LOVE to repeat that action for the next 10.000 games!
10. Equalization kills creativity; People want to be special, to be better, to RULE...
11. Time for a nap!

I played GW for a few months, put in over 300 hours into it, completeled the entire game with 4 chars, I did many uw and fow runs with people, I also tried hard to get into pvp and gvg. I enjoyed gvg somewhat but my guild was not consistantly available for gvg since they preferred pve.

I basically got extremely frustrated with the pvp. Eventually I decided to start farming for stuff, and built a 55 monk. Got a truckload of money, gold items, ecto etc that was mostly useless but I enjoyed it. ArenaNet nerfed 55 monk, it was still doable but the fun factor was gone and it was no longer as easy.

Over this time my pve guild disappeared into nothing, 100 members (and we did remove a lot of inactive players) was reduced to just a few online at any time. The pve players were just not sustained long enough.

Quit the game due to nerf frustration, pvp frustration and extreme burn out on pve. I came back for the preview of factions to hopefully buy and play it. Did not like the beta one bit, too much of the same crap I got burnt out on months before. I don't think I'll be even trying the next iteration either.

Ah right, so this is why people are so pissed off at my level problem. Guildwars screws up the level with skills so htere is no POINT in leveling. Great, another no point in the game, just like there's no point in getting better armor.

Anyways, I guess guildwars rewards are intangible, and in a world which tangible things outweigh mere titles and color schemes, I guess people get bored of the game.

During Holloween, I recall about 170 districts in LA.

Shrug.

I seriously doubt that's a significant fraction of sales. Only the hardcore players of any game would consider it worth buying the game again just for mules. (Just as only hardcore players would consider it a priority to collect every single reward from every event, and then complain as if ArenaNet were imposing a new burden on them.)

Hardcore players are a small minority. It may not seem that way to you if they're the only people you interact with, but hardcores have to come from a much wider base. I'm sure they're a very important minority to ANet, but in terms of pure game population, I assure you that there's a huge number of people for whom the issues being complained about in this thread just aren't important.

Trying to get a better weapon, well, costs a soul usually. The whole point of trying to better yourself is incredibly hard to do and require ALOT of grinding. Leveling doesn't require grinding. It comes natural to the gameplay. If you think that grinding is bad, then you shouldn't be playing RPGs. Every RPG has its grind, GUildwars just has its grind at the wrong places for all the wrong reasons.
I disagree. From my perspective, as a new player who's just managed to bring a dozen or so of my friends into the game to have fun together, I think the grind is in exactly the right place: at the back end, after all the storyline stuff is done, and thus only there for the people who want to grind.

Many of us used to meet online for Diablo II evenings back in the day. We'd laugh together and kill things for a while, then do it again a few days later. We wanted to have that same sort of experience again. We did our homework before choosing this game -- well, okay, mostly I did my homework. I paid attention to what people were praising and what they were complaining about. If the complaints had been "You need to grind a lot in order to see all the areas and experience most of the fun stuff in the game," we wouldn't be playing this. It's one of the reasons we didn't choose World of Warcraft.

Once all the new stuff is seen, and the our characters have enough skill choices to be really interesting, and the missions are done... There's a grind then? Okay. That sounds fine to me. That means we can take it or leave it. At just a few hours a week, and without even touching PvP or GvG stuff until we're done with the missions, we won't run out of stuff to do for a very long time. (Possibly never, if the expansions come out on that six-month schedule.)

The game seems very well paced for people like me and my friends. Maybe I'll change my mind after I've experienced more of it, but at these stages it still seems just about perfect. If your complaints become true for us later on... Well, we'll look for other entertainment. No grudges. We'll still have had quite a lot of fun in the meantime, and no one can take that away. I'm not bitter against Diablo II for failing to constantly provide me with new challenges. I moved on to something else instead.

I only continue to play because of my guild and how close we are, otherwise, I would've quit a long time ago.
So that means you are having fun in the game? Because of your guild? If so, then the game is succeeding for you.

If you're not having any fun, but are still playing anyway, I suggest that that's a choice that bears reexamination. Loyalty's a fine thing, but not at the expense of fun in a game. Maybe you can all find something new together.

Russia also has very limited internet access which tends to be controlled through a select few. You can get email... for a price.

That was also before they changed the coding for the compacting of districts Now you have alot more full ditrsticts then you did before. Holloween had so many districts devoid of life, Shing Jea has almost every district full of something or other.

Its up 80 districts now.
